Don’t
assume that Thomas Cook, the Michelin Guide or Lonely
Planet are the best travel guides
According to independent research, DK
Eyewitness is better for cities like London and Bradt
publish the best country guides
No matter where you want to go, there
is almost certainly a guidebook available that will enhance
your visit. They provide helpful advice on where
to go and stay, help with forward planning and suggest
things to see and do.
However, you may be surprised to learn
that some of the big names are not the best. Independent
research clearly shows that it is some of the smaller
independent brands that are providing the quality info.
The following recommendations are grouped
under three broad headings: City Guidebooks, Country
Guidebooks and Regional Guidebooks.
